Geisha is a Arabica coffee variety with a global reputation for excellence. The bean was first brought to prominence in Panama after a 2004 Best of Panama coffee auction, but originated in Ethiopia's Kaffa region and first exported through Costa Rica. Geisha coffees are typically more expensive than their Arabica counterparts because of low supply and incredibly high demand. The plant is difficult to grow, requiring specific environmental conditions and consistent care from coffee producers. It's uniformly high scores from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) also produce high demand. Coffee experts are consistently impressed by the Geisha variety's unique flavor profiles, often exceptionally floral and fruity with a vibrant, full-body. This particular bean, grown in fertile, volcanic soil, exhibits tropical notes of jasmine, honeysuckle, and bergamot.
