Geisha is a Arabica coffee variety with a global reputation for excellence. The bean was first brought to prominence in Panama after a 2004 Best of Panama coffee auction, but originated in Ethiopia's Kaffa region and first exported through Costa Rica. The plant is difficult to grow, requiring specific environmental conditions and consistent care from coffee producers.
