Notes: In the highlands of Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, the village of Banko Gotiti is home to a small cooperative of roughly 300 coffee growers. Most farm on tiny plots alongside other crops, cultivating a mix of traditional Ethiopian varieties and delivering ripe coffee cherry to a shared processing station during harvest. There, coffees from across the community are carefully sorted and prepared before drying on raised beds. This natural process helps preserve the fruit-driven character that makes coffees from the Yirgacheffe area so distinctive. The result is an expressive, aromatic cup with layers of mixed berry, delicate jasmine, and cocoa, offering a vivid glimpse into one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions.
