Notes: Tore Washing Station, located in the village of Torea in Yirgacheffe, is known for its meticulous processing and excellent growing conditions, with harvests from November through January, temperatures between 23–28°C, and annual rainfall of 1795–2150 mm. In this region, smallholder farmers grow coffee on very small plots alongside other crops and deliver ripe cherry to centralized washing stations like Tore, where it is sorted, weighed, and paid for or recorded before being processed as washed or natural coffees and dried on raised beds. These stations often serve hundreds or even thousands of producers, and because cherries are blended into daily lots, tracing coffee back to individual farmers is difficult. However, consistent sourcing relationships help maintain quality year after year. Most farmers in the region also lack access to fertilizers and pesticides, resulting in coffee grown through traditional, low-input methods.
